Desert Hills

Quintessential Southwest vibes with room to roam.

Welcome to Desert Hills

The quiet village of Desert Hills offers the more laid-back, rural ambiance typical of communities north of Phoenix. Hiking and horseback riding beckon at the Sonoran Preserve. There’s a palpable sense of western heritage here, which you can relive at the living history museum. Like its neighboring villages of Anthem and Cave Creek, life slows down here. With city amenities close by, but not too close, there’s a welcoming small-town atmosphere that’s tough to beat. Discover Desert Hills real estate with Jeff and Lisa Armbruster.

Local Lifestyle

Desert Hills appeals to those who enjoy being outside, whether that’s hiking through the desert or saddling up for an afternoon trail ride. If golf is more your style, there are nearby world-class courses and country clubs to fit the bill. Families, as well as older adults spending the winter here in their second home, enjoy a close-knit community feels where it’s easy to meet up with friends for a lovely dinner followed by art gallery browsing.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Between the Dove Valley shopping center and Tramonto Marketplace, Desert Hills residents will find all the shopping and amenities needed for daily life. Larger and more upscale shopping centers are a short drive away in Scottsdale. The El Pedregal Moroccan-style marketplace, beneath an eye-catching natural-rock formation, offers two levels of shops and restaurants. Shop for upscale apparel, hand-crafted leather goods, and local arts, then stay for a free summer concert. There’s a wine and jazz series held here each fall.
The M&E Gallery is notable within the community, particularly amongst art aficionados. Named for its talented Bulgarian artist owners Michael and Ekaterina Stoyanova, the gallery boasts a collection of paintings, sculptures, textiles, pottery, and more, pieces that are highly sought after in Carefree and beyond.
For a delicious meal in an ambient setting, foodies in Desert Hills choose El Encantos Dos, with its vibrant colors, wrought-iron accents, and exquisite tilework. Sit outside next to a running creek, small pond, and rustic fireplace. Check out the property’s own organic garden and free-range chicken coop. Start with the queso guillermo, a tantalizing concoction of bubbling cheese with yellow chiles, onions, and tomatoes served sizzling hot at your table with pico de gallo, limes, and fresh corn tortillas.
